Adventure Bound

After a few days in Cartagena, we were more comfortable navigating Colombia and my conversational Spanish was improving. We looked forward to our trip to explore the Northern Coast of Colombia. On to the next adventure! Santa Marta is a popular destination for travelers and a great stepping off point for trips to Parque Tayrona. Later in the week we would spend a night in the park. Rodadero We stayed… Read More

The sun was glimmering off the ocean below and I felt a warm breeze on my face. As I turned for final approach I scanned the beach below for hazards. There are certainly no lack on them; a volleyball net, palapas, rocks, palm trees, buildings, pools and beach goers paying no attention to us flying above. I finally got to do my first beach jump, which has been on my list of… Read More

A warm salty breeze, crashing waves and the glow of a setting sun – I could not imagine a better backdrop to a horseback ride down the beach. We were visiting San Pancho in Nayarit, Mexico.  Although this town is about 45 minutes from Puerto Vallarta, it is worth the drive for a taste of local culture, food and a beautiful beach.  San Pancho is still frequented by tourists, but those… Read More

I’m surprised by how many people told me to stay near the hotels in Mexico. Resorts are beautiful, but you do not get the true feeling of a country on one. Always be cautious, but you can certainly journey off the resort. Just be aware of your surroundings and travel with someone you trust. Not only is the experience likely to be more fulfilling, but guess what? It is also more affordable. During… Read More

…in Miami? The answer is not stay in the airport all day. Some advance googling proved it is relatively easy to travel in the immediate area of the Miami airport with a long enough layover.  Our first order of business upon landing was to stop at the American Airlines help counter and see if we could get an earlier flight. Luck was not on our side, so we officially had eight… Read More

As I mentioned in a previous post, I came up with this great idea to take our horses to the dropzone (skydiving), ride down to the beach and try and entice them into the water. Overall, it was a great experience and made for a fun afternoon, but as promised here is the full video of our adventure.   Check out the full post here.

Sometimes I come up with crazy ideas and believe it or not, I sometimes find people that even want to go along with them. The place I skydive at is near a beach that we occasionally land on. Once or twice I noticed people with horses riding down to that beach. The logical next step in any reasonable person’s mind is to figure out how I could also get my horse there…. Read More

Spain is certainly a mecca of culture and food, but for horse lovers it is also an equestrian destination. Our trip started in Madrid (another story in itself), but to focus on the wonderful horse, we took the Atocha (train) to Andalucía. Our destination was Jerez de la Fonterra because it’s the location of the Real Escuela Andulza de Arta Ecuestre (Spanish riding school). In February, Madrid being farther North had a chill to… Read More
