About the blog

If you have landed on my blog you might be wondering what to expect. I like to sum it up as an adventure blog, but what does this mean?

It has resources for travel, camping, hiking, paddling and day trips in the outdoors. If you are planning a trip to Algonquin or another park you can find information here. I chronicle and review my trips around the world, which can be a stepping off point for your next adventure.

This blog is also a place where I write about my journey as a skydiver and an equestrian. Mostly these are my thoughts and misadventures, but I hope they inspire and can be a resource for people.

About the blogger

Perhaps it is cliché, but a scrape with cancer, which thankfully was not serious has taught me to embrace life.  I have promised myself to take the opportunities presented to me and see where they lead. I love to be out of the house and enjoying life.

I was born in Montreal, Canada but grew up just outside Toronto, Canada. I love to write, which is ironic given that I am mildly-dyslexic, but it doesn’t stop me.  I have an diploma in print -journalism, a honours degree in political science and criminal justice & public policy, and a post-graduate certificate in public relations and communication. I work in communications and public affairs for an agriculture organization.

I have not really grasped how not to do things and relax.  This is likely not the greatest quality, but it keeps me looking towards the next great adventure.

I hope you enjoy reading about them.

  3. You sound a bit like me 🙂 Always on the go. Always doing something, and really like to do them out of the house Haha!
And also, very appreciative of being alive after having some serious brushes with life on the other side.
Hey, I think we’re all better for it… Just makes us live a little harder 🙂

Love to have you as a reader of my blog, and look forward to reading about your adventures!

  4. Hi Maegan, lovely to find you and your blog. You sound like an adventurous spirit, much like myself. I look forward to reading more. Cheers from a kindred Blogger in Australia.

  5. Hi Maegan. It is great to meet you. Its going to be exciting tagging along with you on this journey and seeing the world through your eyes and words. Montreal is so pretty. As a young boy we would often travel there and as for Toronto… we love it there. Isn’t it something how when we have that health challenge our perspective changes on how we view life. Its great to see you stepped up to the challenge and are running into life and not away from it.

  6. Are we related? : ) I love to read your adventures! Especially of horses, I miss my babies. When I moved up from SoCal a few years ago I had to sell them. It was devastating I have had horses almost my entire life, now none. Enjoy life!

    1. haha it sure seems like it! 🙂 Looks like we are interested in a lot of the same stuff! Sorry to hear about selling your horses, that must be tough. You can always come back to horses one day though. 🙂

      1. I miss jumping on bareback while they graze and just lie face forward and half-nap under the oaktrees. But I do not miss having to feed them exactly at 8 am and exactly at 4:30 pm or forever suffer their wrath! And being married to that feeding schedule. I could never trust others to feed them as they seemed to feed late and although my horses weren’t colicky, you never know! Yours are beautiful! And you jump lot higher than I did 😉

    1. HI Katie! Thanks so much! It seems like we have been doing a lot of South/Central America! But I really love it there, the people are amazing. We will be leaving for Belize in less than a month. Asia and SE Asia is on my bucketlist for next winter! I look forward to reading more of your posts.

      Maegan

      1. No way! I was just in Belize a few years ago and it was just incredible! The local food is out of this world. You’re going to have such a great time.
