Share Your World – 2014 Week 43

I know this is late, but I wanted to participate in Cee’s share your world challenge.

Rainy day camping.

What is your favorite time of day?
Definitely early mornings. I particularly like waking before the sun and watching it rise. This means mornings during the fall and winter. The days are getting shorter, so on my way to work, I step outside in the crisp fall air to locate my dark car. Much of my drive is through the country, so I enjoy the sun slowly peeking over the horizon. This is a surprisingly magical and rejuvenating time for me.

What’s your favorite charitable cause and why?

Recently, I have been involved with Thyroid Cancer Canada. They were incredibly useful early in my diagnosis, so I think it is important to give back. Sometimes all a cancer patient wants is to speak with others that literally know what they are going through.

How do you like to spend a rainy day?

Looking back, my favorite rainy days were while back country camping. It provides a forced relaxation and time to read a good book, while listening to the patter of rain on the canvas roof. If it is warm enough, I like to open the outside flap and watch the rain on the lake. For me, being outdoors in some way is better than being stuck in a house.

When writing by hand do you prefer to use a pencil or pen?

Pen, always. My writing just flows better that way.

Bonus question: What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?

Seeing friends. I had two separate dinners with two of my closest friends last week. I sometimes find evenings a bit lonely and it was lovely to have some insightful chats with good friends. As a further added bonus, I attended an event in Toronto on the weekend and got to catch up with my roommates from college. They are easy to talk to, no matter how long it has been.
